The Friends of the Navigation is a membership group committed to saving the buildings at the site of the old Navigation Colliery in Crumlin. The group has been formed to increase awareness of the project and to raise funds over the next few years to help bring to life one of the most historic sites in South Wales.
It is a non-profit organisation.

The Navigation is very close to the hearts of many, particularly those who live in the Crumlin area of the Welsh coal fields. Our goal is to bring this wonderful site back to its former glory, albeit not as a working colliery, so it can, once again, be a credit to and a useful resource to the community in general.
As volunteers we come in all shapes and sizes !
We clean and tidy, raise funds, exhibit at various events and have fun at our own organised events held on site !
Come and join us !
Lots of work has already taken place and new volunteers are always welcome. Volunteers from all walks of life and anyone with specific skills, whether it be building or accountancy, would be very welcome indeed.
However, due to the outbreak of the Corona virus and ensuing pandemic many activities, including our site meetings have not been held. If you would still like to volunteer please get in touch and have a chat and we will keep you posted as and when the situation improves.
In the meantime becoming a member still helps us considerably to maintain the group and help meet costs which still continue.
