Brief Update - April 2024:  The culvert continues to be a problem but not one that cannot be solved in the long term.

In December last the new defences held during the bad weather but after the heavy rain in January the river defeated the temporary gabion work that was put in at the North End of the repair.

At the present time there has been some further erosion to the concrete bags used in the temporary works and rectification is needed. It will probably be necessary to purchase additional concrete (“lego”) blocks to reinforce the structure. This may involve the hire of a crane but that could be coupled with the work on the Pay Office that will be undertaken in a few months time. The Natural Resources Wales permit for work in the river is still “live”.
