During September and October one of the largest engineering contracts on the local railway impacted heavily on the Navigation site. This has involved the removal and renewal of the railway viaduct bridge over the River Ebbw. The lower level of the Navigation site has been taken over by the contractors to create a working compound for the major work to be completed.
AmcoGiffen, a principal Contractor to Network Rail, have carried out the work, the new bridge has now been installed and the railway is again operating. The bridge has been updated to cater for a double track arrangement once the Ebbw Vale line is upgraded in the future.
